I took the baby over to see my grandma (age 91, recently out of the hospital, feisty) to give her the four generations necklace I ordered her on etsy and spend some time together.
Her pal from sunday school was there.
She called me by my mom's name. My grandma said No that's Lora. to which Sunday School Pal replied:
"That's Lora? Oh, honey, you've got so fat I wouldn't have known you anywhere!"
What exactly can you say to that??? I was dumbfounded.

Wow! I have no idea what one would say to that. That kind of rudeness is kind of beyond response. I, too, am speechless. I hope you were able to enjoy the visit despite the obnoxious friend. I'm sure your grandmother loved her gift.
I probably couldn't have come up with it then but something like -
Well, honey, you've gotten so rude I wouldn't have known you either.
Or I remember you well, whichever is more appropriate.
What a bitch!
I would have said, "Well, thank Goodness you are still such a bitch that I would know you anywhere!"
How old was she? Obviously there is no filter on her mouth. My MIL is like that. So sorry. You have all of us behind you, cheering you on.
